An English ceramicist known for works of pure form and distinctive texture, made for J+J in exclusive accent colours.

...partly inspired by the Italian painter Giorgio Morandi’s still-life paintings...I want my vessels to have the same sense of being in family groups, similar but not identical.

“I make vessels that are functional and decorative. Each piece is thrown on the wheel using white earthenware clay. I use a signature, smooth-textured glaze that I formulated myself.

For Joined + Jointed I’ve made a series of bottle vases in three sizes, finished in J+J colours that I developed exclusively for this collaboration - a teal blue, a warm orange, and a flaxen yellow alongside my stock ivory. They are distinctive as individual pieces or grouped in vibrant colour combinations.

My work is partly inspired by the Italian painter Giorgio Morandi’s still-life paintings of groups of bottles. I want my vessels to have the same sense of being in family groups, similar but not identical.

I became a ceramicist after working in London in the TV industry for many years. I wanted a new direction and studied Ceramics at Wimbledon and Camberwell art schools. My studio is in the Hampshire countryside: I produce all my work there as well as teach pottery to adults and children.”
