British designer with Norwegian roots, creating objects with depth and charm.
If you can make an end-user happy – that’s success.”
Born in Larvik, Norway, Alex is both a furniture designer and an academic at his alma mater - Buckinghamshire University. After studying there and at the Royal College of Art, he launched his design practice in 1996 with a coveted grant from the Design Council. Since then he has worked on private and commercial commissions, designing successfully for several British manufacturers. Alex's design ethos is guided by "observation, utility and honest use of materials". In particular, his sensitive use of wood gives his pieces both depth and integrity.
